Multimedia art installation with live models
Artist Tod Alan approached Tyler James Bush about creating an art installation to kick off his GlamourousNoise Fashion Show.
“Dreams become reality where silence lays in a cold, still, unattainable love. Water rushing over the Earth's surface forces sounds to echo upon deaf ears, creating a visual stimulus of times past and future revelations.”
“I had the idea of having actors projected both on a screen and performing live. In the Deer Ladies’ world, there are no men, so the men were the ones on screen. There were four Deer Ladies, all sisters. The youngest had the loveliest antlers and was portrayed as the Black Mannequin. Her next oldest sister was the Gold Mannequin. The two oldest sisters were not represented to indicate that as the Deer Ladies get older, they become flawed and begin to fall apart—they are no longer beautiful, so no one sees them. It’s as though they are invisible. Death was the figure in white. He has no heart and was there to claim the oldest sister. The Ventriloquist Dummy was there to set the tone of the art installation: unease and curiosity. In a world without men, the Dummies represent a robotic, masculine presence. The second character projected on screen was the Hunter, a man unable to find what he’s looking for.”

The footage was all filmed in Idaho during the winter to evoke the cold environment these characters live in.
